Many thanks to those who joined our PE Webinar yesterday, we hope you came away with something that will be useful to you for this academic year. See attached the webinar slides and our after school girls football flyer. See below for a reminder of some of the key points that were mentioned, the afpe guidance can be found here https://www.afpe.org.uk/physical-education/wp-content/uploads/Updated-COVID-19-Guidance-July-2020.pdf

  • Check with your school around their risk assessment policy and ensure that it is aligned with your schools PE policy
  • Be sensitive to the physical and mental state of the pupils when they’re back in school and amongst their friends
  • Keep social distancing measures throughout your PE lessons and disinfect equipment before and after use and hand washing before and after lessons
  • Contact the relevant PESSN staff member ASAP regarding our current in school programmes and events
  • Use all the resources available to you including our new website & YouTube page. The link to our website is https://www.lpessn.org.uk/ access to the members site is restricted to our member schools/schools that sent back their PE agreements
  • Whilst teaching PE, use variable challenges & change/amend lessons when appropriate
  • Link a holistic focus to lessons related to their personal skills and their health & fitness (educating through the physical)
  • Use mirroring and collaborative activities (copy partners actions, gain a point every time you can copy your partner)
  • Compete against partner. Beat their score (competitive), improve on your score better than your partner does (healthy competition)
