PESSN Covid Update
The overall guidance for covid related to PE hasn't changed in primary schools. The majority of changes are for secondary schools and colleges with regards to wearing masks within lessons.
We have listed some of the key points that schools should consider in regard to PE provision in their schools.
- Lessons to be taught outside is space is available e.g. Gymnastics/Dance will need to stay inside
- If teaching inside make sure space is well ventilated with windows or doors open.
- Pupils to wash hands before and after your lessons, especially if they are using equipment.
- Sanitise equipment after each lesson or at the end of the school day.
As a network team we are conducting lateral flow testing on a Sunday and Wednesday and will be happy to show proof of test on arrival. Please ensure the team member that is in your school is aware of any covid protocols that your school may have in place.
Our competitions are planned to run as normal unless the guidance changes. If the competition is due to take place inside all adults attending will need to wear a face mask when moving around the venue. We also advise that all adults attending the competition take a lateral flow test on the morning of the competition.
We appreciate that staff absences are a major issue with in all schools at the moment. If your school is no longer able to make any of the planned competitions please email george@lpessn.org.uk so that your place can be offered to another school. If numbers are really low we will move to plan B, which will involve us coming into your school to run the competition.
