A day in the Royal Opera House with LPESSN Super Stars programme

As a Network, our mission is to provide our children with the building blocks to be successful in whatever direction they choose to go in later life. With this in mind this academic year we are running a programme called Superstars. The vision of this programme is to “inspire a generation”. We want to help children become those leading lights of our ever growing community. Using the power of inspirational venues and the positive life experiences of our everyday heroes we want to give children a competitive experience that enhances important life skills. The programme has brought five children (boys or girls) from five different schools together to meet and learn about a variety of different inspirational personalities. The programme is aimed at children who are from a disadvantaged background, suffer from low self-esteem or have low aspirations to succeed in life. This may be because of the area they live in, family circumstances or academically they are below the level where they should be for their age. Over the last four weeks, the children have been working very closely with the Royal Opera House. The culmination of part one of the project saw 25 lucky children attending a performance of Alice in Wonderland in this year’s Superstars project. The children took part in several workshops connected to the Alice in Wonderland, including a ballet workshop in the morning followed by a very special performance of Alice in Wonderland. This half term the children will become members of Brio’s Leadership Academy and take part in a healthy eating workshop.

NFL Day with LPESSN!

An afternoon with the NFL

On Friday 20th October the Network was invited by the
NFL to a training session with the Arizona Cardinals
American football team @ The London Irish Training
Ground, Hazelwood. Boutcher and St James’ were the 2
schools to attend the training session.
What a day this was, we were the only Network in
London invited, not only to meet the players but also to
take part in a training session with them!

“It was incredible. The children absolutely loved it!
They did not stop talking about it!” (St. James’ CE
Primary School)

“Children described today as the best trip ever”
(Boutcher CE Primary School)

SEN Festival of Sport!

What a great start to our SEN festival of sport!

The first LPESSN SEND Festival of Sport of the
year in 20th October 2017 was super popular with
15 schools (400 students) taking part in Cricket,
Trampoline, Capoeira, Tennis, Volleyball, New-age
Kurling/Boccia, Targets and Football.
This Festival is a wonderful opportunity for these
students to take part in sports they don’t usually
get a chance to access.
In addition, we aim to help those who discover
activities or sports that they enjoy to continue to
take part in them when they return to their school.
We want to say a huge thank you for the Bacon’s
College sixth formers for helping out on the day.

If you wish to know more about SEND support in
your school please contact: Glyn Davies at
